Kate Spina, LCSW, is a Facilitator at Against the Stream Buddhist Meditation Society. She has trained with Noah Levine, JoAnna Harper and Vinny Ferraro. Her primary teacher is Matthew Brensilver. Kate began practicing meditation and Buddhism in 2006 and has been practicing in the Theravada tradition since 2012. Her primary area of interest is applying Early Buddhist teachings to 21st Century life. Kate strongly values the importance of silent retreat.
Kate received her Masters in Social Work from Simmons College in Boston in 2007. She has worked in a variety of settings including residential treatment for boys, community mental health centers, public and private schools, and addiction treatment centers.
